Any idea which FE exhaust manifolds are the best for a warmed up 390 without getting into the rare and expensive ones? By the way, we're located in Utah. I'm starting to think maybe a good used set of exhaust manifolds might be the way to go at this point. Aside from fitment issues, price is still an issue for us too. '69 Mach 1 351W C6 (soon to be 434 FE!)Thanks for all the input guys, it's been a big help. That said, if you are prepared to modify the brace and if you have the right motor mounts, and (according to Stan) "your shock towers are not collapsed due to abuse, age and or poor workmanship" on your part then they might fit!Į-mail me if you need any help or have questions. As I said before, if I was doing it now knowing what I know now I would relieve the shock towers and try to develop a better header. The headers themselves are an improvement over stock but far from high performance due to the bends. Not a big deal if you have a drill press and a band saw and some 3/8" stock. The diagonal support on the drivers side will need to be remade with a differant angle to it. I have been dinking around with mine and have solved the situation I believe. WIldBill - NW WAġ965 Tbird w/ Coming Attraction. One last thing and probably the most damning thing about the Tbird FPA's is the chassis is so tight the tubes are practically pinched off at the head flanges, besides the fitment the flow was what got Mark and I kicking the dog around. I can get lots of nice flowing headers for $600.00 if I made my own. Drop me an email and let me know what part of the country you're in. I will have a 64 in the spring that I will probably use up for parts so I may have a car to experiment with. Mark and I also discussed reworking the shock towers and making a template for other builders so a guy could actually build his own or modify a nice set of Hookers or others. As I say, search a little and you'll find his rantings(sic). He had several rub areas and contact areas with his and they were none to helpful to resolve, this is all second hand, hopefully Mark will see this and respond. He's got a sweet 65 w/ a fresh and trick 428 very nice ride, do some searching under FPA Thunderbirds or Tbirds or others and you might find some pics of his ride. '69 Mach 1 351W C6 (soon to be 434 FE!)Welcome to the board - I also have 64,65, 66's, mine are still in the works, there is a WA state member by the name of Mark Pruitt, keep an eye out for him, that had a boat load of hassels with his. Does anyone know of a company making headers for this application that are fairly budget priced? I know we could probably go to a custom header maker but we're looking for cheaper options at this time. We've been trying to find a set of headers for it and have so far been unsuccessful. Anyway, a buddy of mine has a '64 Thunderbird with a 390 PI. Hey guys, I'm a new member of the forum, but I've been reading it for over a year now and couldn't think of a better place to ask a question.
